About Christopher Mager

Mr. Mager is Managing Director and Head of Global Innovation within BNY Mellon Treasury Services’ Global Product Management group. In this role he leads a team responsible for managing Treasury Services’ innovation process and strategic innovation projects. The Global Innovation group is also responsible for research, evaluation, proofs of concept, and thought leadership for emerging payment technology, including blockchain exploration and fintech engagement. Mr. Mager is a member of the Federal Reserve’s Faster Payments Task Force, and a frequent speaker on payment modernization initiatives.

Prior to this role, Mr. Mager was the Head of Market Segments, a team responsible for strategic development, industry expertise, new product development, sales and marketing strategy, and segment governance for BNY Mellon Treasury Services’ target market segments globally, including asset managers, broker-dealers, insurance, healthcare and the emerging payment technology segment.

Mr. Mager was also the business manager for alternative distribution channels, including Treasury Services’ private label business, Strategic Integrated Solutions, and Asset Account Services. His responsibilities included strategic planning, product development, marketing, and the overall growth and income of the alternative distribution business lines. In addition to having direct responsibility for product management, Mr. Mager led all aspects of the alternative distribution channel businesses, including coordination with the sales, client support, operations and systems teams.

Prior to his roles in Global Product Management, Mr. Mager was the Northeast Corporate Sales Manager for BNY Mellon Treasury Services. As sales manager, he managed a team of sales representatives that was responsible for new business development and account maintenance for a portfolio of large corporate accounts located in the Northeastern states. Mr. Mager was also an executive sales representative calling on large corporations in the Metro NY area for nine years prior to becoming the Northeast sales manager.

Mr. Mager joined the bank in 1988, and completed the credit training program in preparation for his role as a relationship officer in what is now Global Client Management. He joined Treasury Services in 1991.

Mr. Mager holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, a master of business administration from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, and is a Certified Treasury Professional. He is a graduate of BNY Mellon’s Leadership Development Program as well as the Harvard Business School High Potentials Leadership Program.

Mr. Mager is a Board Advisor, and past President, of the Pittsburgh chapter of ALPFA, the largest professional association for Latino business leaders in the U.S. He is a member of IMPACT and WIN, and serves as an Ambassador for IMPACT on the Pittsburgh campus.
